GTWA Winter Assembly: Strategy Sessions: Solidarity! Resistance! Change! 2012
The next General Assembly of the GTWA will be held on Sunday January 15, 2012. All members and supporters are encouraged to attend. Members and supporters are welcome to bring guests. We also welcome observers. Members and supporters are encouraged to register as soon as possible so as to help us plan for the event (food and materials). Registration prior to the Assembly is mandatory for observers. Registration information can be found on the bottom of this post.

Strategy Sessions and getting organized for the struggle in 2012

9:00 – 9:30 am: Registration, registration package pick-up and set-up
9:30- 10:00: New members welcome/opening plenary/announcements
10:00 - 1pm: Strategy Session: The Struggle Continues 2012
In this session we will have a structured discussion and planning session around the following:
1. What's going on?: The political terrain and projected short term and long term key struggles in Toronto in 2012.
2. Where are we at?: Our forces on the ground and current organizing around these struggles
3. What can we do?: The priorities of the GTWA given our capacity and the development of concrete plans.
1:00-1:15: Break
1:15 - 3:00: Working Lunch (we will have food brought in): Committee Reboot
In this session we will have brief reports from our current committees. There will also be space to discuss and create new committees. The committees will then break off to discuss organizing in light of the morning discussion and strategy session. During this time each committee will be asked to decide on a point person to communicate with the Coordinating Committee and the rest of the GTWA (updates and meeting times to be posted on our website and email list) as well as to develop basic infrastructure (an email list, new member liason, meeting times) if they do not currently have them. Members not already in a committee are encouraged to join an existing one or propose one.

3:15-5:00: Motions
( To submit a motion for distribution prior to the Assembly send it to workingclassfightback@gmail.com . All motions submitted by January 5, 2012 will be distributed to members via email prior to the Assembly and will be part of the registration package at the Assembly)

A. All members and supporters are encouraged to attend. Members and supporters are welcome to bring guests. We also welcome observers. B. There will be registration at the door but pre-registration helps with Assembly organization and guarantees you space, lunch and Assembly materials. Observers must pre-register unless they are attending as guests of a member. The Assembly reserves the right to deny admission to non-members who do not pre-register.
C. Only members can vote and make motions at the Assembly. Non-member participation in discussion is at the discretion of the chair and the membership.
D. The suggested contribution to the Assembly is $10/ PWYC (Lunch will be provided). Contributions will be collected at the registration desk. We will also be collecting voluntary dues if you would like to pay them. If you would like to pay monthly dues please bring a voided cheque.
E. Free on site childcare will be provided by a vulnerable person screened ECE certified professional. Please make note of the number of children and their ages in the registration email. If you would like to speak to the childcare worker prior to the Assembly please contact us at workingclassfightback@gmail.com and we will put you in touch.

G. There will be information tables set up in the back of the hall to be shared by members for distribution of materials.
